Q : How were you feeling when you first started looking for your wedding dress?
A: I was very excited to start the process of finding my dress! Aside from setting the date and securing the church, it was one of the first big things to check off the list. I had done lots of research online (as well as watching plenty of Say Yes to the Dress), so I was ready to get started.
Q : What made your experience at Verita special?
A: The staff at Verita was so wonderful and attentive to what I was looking for. We were able to try on all kinds of styles, and having my mom with me made for a great mother-daughter bonding experience. Jessica and her team are top-notch!
Q : Describe the moment you found your dress, was it what you envisioned or were you surprised?
A: The dress I ended up choosing was actually one I had seen on Verita's website and had kept in the back of my mind of being one that I really liked. However it wasn't until I tried it on did I realize it was that dress I had seen online. It was obviously meant to be! I had been envisioning something flowy, romantic, with either lace and/or flowers, and this was just what I was looking for.
Q : Where did your wedding take place and what was your aesthetic?
A: We were so fortunate to get married at Bethel United Methodist Church in Charleston, SC, where I have been raised my entire life. The reception was held at the Cooper River Room in Mt. Pleasant, SC. When it comes to aesthetic and decor, we were going for a rustic and romantic feel, so we had some wooden tables and chairs throughout the space, as well as seasonal and strong fall colors throughout the bridal party attire and flowers. But we also knew we wanted to have a good time at the reception, so we had our DJ and dance floor set up under the tent outside, so everyone had plenty of room to party and have a fun night.
Q: What was your favorite part of your wedding?
A: While the grandness and joy of the day were certainly something I won't forget, I really loved all of the smaller moments sprinkled throughout. I will always hold dear the memories of getting to do a first look with my dad, standing in the back of the church and seeing Justin for the first time, our first dance, getting ready with my bridesmaids, and dancing with everyone at the reception.
Q : What advice would you give to future brides?
A: I was preparing for my wedding for about 11 months, but it went by so quickly that the day itself was like I just blinked! Enjoy each moment (big and small) and be sure to find time to savor the joy of what you are preparing to embark on. It's a wonderful journey.
